Trump is reportedly spending his time with his staff brainstorming new nicknames for the new class of 2020 Democratic challengers. According to The Hill, he is said to be looking to assign comical, cruel and even racially-tinged nicknames for his political opponents, including any Republican who would dare criticize him.
As you may know, Trump has already assigned Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts as “Pocahontas,” and he refers to Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders as “Crazy Bernie.”
Trump loves to belittle his opponents with nicknames including “The Failing” New York Times (who have been highly critical of him throughout his presidency) and most recently in a convoluted tweet he called Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota a “Snowman (woman).”
During the 2016 Republican primary, Trump developed monikers for several of the candidates that seemed to stick, like “low energy” Jeb Bush, “lyin” Ted Cruz and “little” Mark Rubio.
The most infamous of all his nicknames, however, was reserved for Hillary Clinton who he continuously referred to as “Crooked” Hillary Clinton, helping to paint the Democratic presidential candidate in a negative light that was even used in official campaign ads, severely tainting her reputation in the court of public opinion.
