Two more women have come forward with allegations against R. Kelly, and his lawyer is pushing back.
Latresa Scaff and Rochelle Washington spoke publicly for the first time Thursday at a news conference in New York with attorney Gloria Allred. They say they met Kelly in the mid 1990s at a concert and after party in Baltimore when they were teenagers. They allege they were given drugs and alcohol and told to meet Kelly at his hotel suite.
Scaff alleges Kelly had sex with her that night while she was under the influence and unable to consent. Washington says she left the situation when Kelly made a request she was not comfortable with. The women say they have photos from that night and are willing to testify under oath.
Allred said several of her clients allege they were abused by Kelly, though not all of them have spoken publicly. She said Scaff and Washington came forward to encourage others to do the same, and that they planned to meet with officials from the U.S. attorney’s office in Brooklyn.
Kelly’s attorney, Steve Greenberg, responded that Kelly “never knowingly had sex with an underage woman.” Kelly has denied allegations of misconduct with underage girls for years, and he was acquitted of child pornography charges in 2008. The new claims come weeks after the Lifetime series Surviving R. Kelly revived attention on the accusations. None of the new allegations have been proven in court.
