Donald Trump is once again going after the media, this time floating the idea that some major networks shouldn’t even have licenses to operate.
During an exchange with reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump complained about negative coverage from national broadcasters, saying:
“Again, 97% negative, and yet I won easily. I won all seven swing states. They give me only bad press. I mean they’re getting a license. I would think maybe their licenses should be taken away.”
Trump claimed that most of the coverage against him was overwhelmingly hostile, saying networks were “97% against me.” However, he admitted he didn’t know where the figure came from, only that he had “read it someplace.”
Trump is threatening press freedom by suggesting the government should punish networks for negative reporting.
