Trump’s Attorneys Drop Key Piece Of Pennsylvania Lawsuit

Mail in Votes

Donald Trump’s attorneys have filed a revised lawsuit in Pennsylvania, dropping an essential piece of its case aiming to block Joe Biden from certifying a victory in the state.

According to the Associated Press, the campaign dropped its request that more than 680,000 mail-in and absentee ballots be tossed because they were processed without its observers watching the votes be counted.

“Our lawsuit in Pennsylvania absolutely still makes an issue of the 682,479 mail-in and absentee ballots that were counted in secret,” Trump campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh tweeted.

The lawsuit maintains that Democratic voters were treated more favorably than Republican voters in the state. The suit centers around disqualifying ballots cast by voters who were allowed to fix their mail-in votes that would have otherwise been disqualified over a technicality.

The lawsuit targets Democratic counties, alleging that they violated the law by identifying defective mail-in ballots before Election Day and allowing voters to fix their ballot, ensuring their vote counted. Republican counties followed the law by not notifying voters.

A lawyer for the Democratic National Committee told NBC News that although it is unknown how many voters were allowed to correct their vote, it is undoubtedly less than the almost 70,000 votes that Biden leads Trump.

There is nothing in Pennsylvania law that says voters cannot fix their ballots if there is an error that would cause it to be disqualified.

In separate court proceedings, Republican lawyers have acknowledged that certified observers watched the ballots being processed in Philadelphia. The Trump campaign has refuted that, claiming their representatives were not allowed to watch as the votes were being processing.

Despite there being no evidence that any voter fraud occurred, Trump falsely claimed that fraud plagued the election. He contends the fraud caused Biden to be incorrectly declared the winner. Top government officials have denied his claims. They insist that there is “no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised.”
