Trump’s net worth has climbed to $7 billion, according to a new Forbes tally updated this month, making him about $2.7 billion richer than he was when he won the 2024 election. Forbes went as far as saying no one in American history has made this much money off politics.
For perspective, Forbes valued Trump at $3.7 billion when he first ran for office in 2016. By 2017 that number had dropped to $3.1 billion, and by 2020 it was down to $2.5 billion. His second run has been a very different story.
The biggest piece of Trump’s net worth now comes from crypto and cash, which Forbes puts at about $2.4 billion combined. Crypto, short for cryptocurrency, is digital money that exists only online and is not issued by any government. A big part of that pile comes from his memecoin, a type of cryptocurrency built around a personality or a joke whose value rides almost entirely on hype. Trump launched his own just days before his second inauguration, and Forbes values his stake in it at around $183 million.
He also has money tied up in World Liberty Financial, a crypto company co-founded by members of the Trump family. Forbes puts his stake in its tokens at about $78 million and his stake in its USD1 stablecoin business at roughly $233 million. A stablecoin is a cryptocurrency designed to always be worth one dollar, which makes it more like digital cash than an investment. On top of that, Forbes estimates Trump pocketed about $200 million after taxes by selling part of one venture, reportedly to a member of the Emirati royal family.
His golf clubs and resorts add another $1.8 billion to Trump’s net worth. That includes 10 golf courses across six states, Mar-a-Lago at about $620 million and Trump National Doral in Miami at about $365 million. His other real estate investments come in at around $1.1 billion, and he used some of his new cash to pay off roughly $114 million in debt on his Lower Manhattan tower in 2025.
Then there is Trump Media and Technology Group, the parent company of Truth Social. Forbes values his stake at about $1 billion, even though the company brought in just $3.7 million in revenue in 2025 and lost $712 million that same year. Stock prices do not always follow what a company actually earns, and this is one of the clearest examples.
The rest of Trump’s net worth, about $700 million, comes from licensing deals where companies pay to put his name on their products, along with loans he has made to his children. Forbes values the licensing business alone at about $655 million.
The fortune has not only gone up. Trump has lost about $300 million so far in 2026, a reminder that money made fast in crypto can leave just as quickly.
