The saga of Houston’s famous Turkey Leg Hut may have another chapter in store. Nearly a year after the original Almeda Road location was shuttered, co-founder Nakia Holmes is hinting at a potential comeback, sharing a reflective Instagram reel on March 2 that has quickly gone viral.

The video shows Holmes walking through a storage facility filled with the familiar branded trucks and equipment that once defined the restaurant’s presence in the Third Ward. While she hasn’t confirmed a specific reopening date or a new physical location, her message leaned heavily into themes of resilience and transformation.
“The brand carries my story, my scars, my strength,” Holmes shared with her followers. “The rebirth isn’t about proving anything. It’s about honoring what I survived.” The clip also made explicit mention of a “completely new look, new logo and everything,” indicating that if the business returns, it will likely be under a total rebrand.

This potential revival follows a highly public and volatile collapse. What started as a successful 2015 pop-up at the Houston Rodeo grew into a cultural landmark before spiraling into massive debt and legal battles. By 2024, the Turkey Leg Hut filed for bankruptcy with millions in debt, and court documents eventually showed over $6.5 million in claims were discharged without payment because no assets remained.
While Holmes is focusing on a “rebirth,” the legal issues surrounding the brand’s former leadership continue to play out in court. In October 2025, Holmes was arrested on a felony charge of hindering apprehension.
Meanwhile, her ex-husband and co-founder, Lyndell “Lynn” Price, remains in federal custody. Price’s trial began this week on March 16, 2026, where he faces serious charges, including arson and conspiracy related to the 2020 firebombing of Bar 5015, alongside additional weapons counts involving a flamethrower.
Despite the heavy history, Holmes seems intent on reclaiming the legacy she helped build. Whether this means a new brick-and-mortar restaurant or a mobile food truck fleet, the Turkey Leg Hut name is clearly being prepared for its next chapter.
