Twin sisters have been arrested and charged with the 2017 murder of their teenage brother.

Their arrests stem from the March 21st, 2017 death of 17-year-old Christian Leroy Matthews in Silver Spring, Maryland. Officers responded to a home on Mondrian Terrace about a “suspicious situation.” When they arrived, they found the teenager unresponsive. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His twin sisters, Lemae and Leaundra Matthews, were present in the home at the time. One of them told police they heard a commotion coming from the basement where their brother’s room was.

Suspicious marks were found around Christian’s neck, and the medical examiner ruled that his death was a homicide caused by asphyxia. The twins were suspects during the initial investigation. Soon after the killing, authorities arrested 19-year-old Tysean A. Lipford and charged him with the first-degree murder of Christian. The man, who fathered a child with one of Christian’s sisters, ultimately received 30 years in prison.

However, four years later, police now say they have evidence to link the boy’s twin sisters and another man, Daniel Juwan Howard, to his death as well. While their roles in the slaying have not been disclosed, they have each been charged with first-degree murder. All three are being held without bond at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
