Two of R. Kelly’s homes in the Atlanta area were reportedly cleaned out over Thanksgiving weekend while he was on tour in New Orleans, and police now say they have identified a suspect.

According to TMZ, officers found three men leaving one of the houses in a van. The men were taken in for questioning, where TMZ reports they said they were hired by a man named Alfonso, described as someone who did work for the singer. Local police later said they tied the thefts to him.

The men reportedly told officers they were hired to sell everything in the home because Kelly was packing up and moving to Chicago. TMZ reports that people on Kelly’s team told police Alfonso did not have the authority to make that call. Officers then went to Alfonso’s home and reportedly found some of the missing items.

Johns Creek police said a warrant was secured for Alfonso on burglary and theft charges. He had agreed to come to the police department to talk on Tuesday but did not show up. Police said he has given different explanations, including that he is being set up. Two people who bought some of the items have reportedly returned them.

Kelly’s team alerted police to the second home, and a lawyer for the singer had not responded to requests for comment at the time of the reports. Police are asking anyone with information about Alfonso’s whereabouts, or anyone who bought items from him, to come forward.

The warrant is an allegation, and no one has been convicted in the case.
