For the second time in a matter of days, federal officers have been seen arresting food delivery drivers in Washington, D.C., under Donald Trump’s intensified crime crackdown in the city.

This time, customer Tyler DeSue was waiting on his Uber Eats order when he noticed the driver’s location had stalled nearby. Curious, he stepped outside and saw police lights and the driver being questioned by up to six officers, most of whom had masks on.
According to DeSue, the officers asked about the driver’s license and registration. Moments later, DeSue captured video of them handcuffing the man. He explained that he heard an officer admitting to running the license plate wrong. They also acknowledged pulling him over by mistake, but proceeded to ask the driver about his U.S. residency. DeSue claims the officers tried “scanning his face.”
That’s when things escalated.
“They took his handcuffs off, they put chains on his ankles, his waist, and on his hands,” DeSue told a local news outlet.
The driver, confused and struggling with English, asked for help.
“Can you have someone explain it to me in Arabic?” the driver asked. “And [the officer] was like, ‘We will not give you a translator until you come with us.’”
DeSue, a criminal justice and homeland security graduate, said the experience left him shaken.
“In my mind, it doesn’t stop here,” he added.
The driver’s identity has not yet been made public.
