USA Swimming Bans Brock Turner For Life

It was already reported that Stanford swimmer and convicted rapist, Brock Turner, would likely be released from jail 3 months early with good behavior. This leaves him serving only 3 months in protective custody behind bars. Upon release, Turner will have to register as a sex offender. Not only that, he’s also been banned by USA Swimming for life. This means that he will not be eligible to compete at any USA Swimming-sanctioned events, including the Olympic Trials.

“Brock Turner’s membership with USA Swimming expired at the end of the calendar year 2014,” says USA Swimming spokesman Scott Leighton in an email to USA TODAY. He goes on to say that at the time of the sexual assault, Turner had not yet reapplied for membership with USA Swimming, and should he choose to, it won’t even matter.

“Brock Turner is not a member of USA Swimming and, should he apply, he would not be eligible for membership.  … Had he been a member, he would be subject to the USA Swimming Code of Conduct. USA Swimming strictly prohibits and has zero tolerance for sexual misconduct, with firm Code of Conduct policies in place, and severe penalties, including a permanent ban of membership, for those who violate our Code of Conduct.”

Well at least someone is giving Brock Turner the punishment he deserves.
