The U.S. Postal Service has announced that, effective February 4, it will temporarily suspend the acceptance of inbound international packages from China and Hong Kong. This move, posted on the USPS website, will impact parcel deliveries but will not affect the flow of letters or flat mail from these regions.

What’s Affected?

  • Suspended: All inbound packages from China and Hong Kong.
  • Not Affected: Letters and flat mail (such as documents and postcards) will continue to be delivered without disruption.

The USPS has not provided an end date for the suspension, stating only that it will remain in place “until further notice.”The reason behind the suspension has not been explicitly stated, but such measures are often linked to logistical challenges, regulatory issues, or international shipping constraints.

If you’re expecting a package from China or Hong Kong, be prepared for delays. For businesses and individuals who rely on international shipments, it’s recommended to explore alternative shipping methods through private couriers until the USPS lifts the suspension.

Stay tuned for updates as more information becomes available from the USPS.
