Utah Teen Charged After Several Fish Were Found Taped To ATM Machines and Other Objects

A teenager is facing legal trouble after he allegedly taped fish to ATMs in Provo, Utah, after he shared videos of the acts on social media.

According to the Provo Police Department, the 17-year-old was involved in approximately 13 incidents of taping fish to ATMs and other objects, including a police car.

The fishy antics were documented on an Instagram account called “fish_bandit84,” which has over 52,000 followers and has been active since August 2023.

The account’s bio reads: “Live, laugh, tape fish on ATMs.”

On TikTok, a similar account with the same name shared videos of fish taped to ATMs and other objects, including bathroom stall doors, with some fish holding cigarettes.

It remains unclear whether the individual behind the account personally executed all the fish-taping or if they also shared content from elsewhere on the internet.

The teen is accused of property damage and the case was sent to Juvenile Justice and Youth Services because of cleanup costs. The case ended in December, and the police won’t say more as it’s being handled.
