Tyrus Thomas’ wife, Jaime Thomas, was arrested early Thursday after police say she hit a security guard twice with her car while trying to leave a party hosted by Chris Paul in Charlotte.
The trouble started at a post game party at the NC Music Factory. A Facebook ad for the event shows Paul hosted it with Kaya Jones. A fight broke out involving a group of women, and a woman named Alissa Jordan says her belongings were taken. “My things were stolen. It was a fight and that’s it,” Jordan told WSOC.
Police say Jaime Thomas, 26, hit a security guard with her car during the chaos. When officers arrived, she was in a car in the parking lot. Police say she tried to leave and hit the same security guard a second time.
Officers had to break the driver’s side window to get to her. According to police, a woman inside the car, Shassity Stevenson, started pulling Thomas back in as officers tried to remove her, and officers had to use force to get her out. Her mugshot showed a gash under her left eye.
Thomas is charged with DWI, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and resisting a public officer.
She wasn’t the only woman with NBA ties taken away in handcuffs. Sascha Smith, the fiancée of Thomas’ Bobcats teammate Ben Gordon, was charged with resisting arrest, and so was Stevenson.
The only robbery charge went to Morgan Williams, 22, of Chicago. Police say Williams stole Jordan’s purse and charged her with felony robbery. She was also caught on camera trying to kick a WSOC photographer.
That wasn’t the end of the night. While officers were still on the scene, a separate fight broke out and two men were arrested. Michael Bernard Noel, 31, was charged with communicating threats, disorderly conduct and resisting an officer. Vanny Phillip McNeil, 32, was charged with resisting an officer.
The Bobcats said they are aware of the incident but that it would be inappropriate to comment on a pending legal matter.
