Wiz Khalifa Just Ended Up On Romania’s Wanted Persons List And It All Started With A Controversial Onstage Smoke Break

Wiz Khalifa’s long-running legal situation in Romania just hit another strange chapter after reports surfaced that the rapper had briefly appeared on the country’s wanted persons database over his cannabis possession case. The update immediately sparked confusion online because the listing reportedly disappeared almost as fast as it appeared.

According to Romanian outlet Mediafax, authorities allegedly added Wiz, born Cameron Jibril Thomaz, to a police database connected to an enforcement warrant tied to drug-related offenses. But when people attempted to access the listing later, the Romanian Police database reportedly showed the alert was “no longer active.”

Now the situation has fans trying to figure out how a festival moment from 2024 turned into international legal drama involving court rulings, prison sentence reports, and a wanted list headline.

July 2024: Wiz Lights Up During Romanian Festival Performance

The entire Wiz Romania case started during the Beach, Please! Festival in July 2024, where Wiz Khalifa allegedly smoked cannabis while performing onstage in front of the crowd.

That immediately became a legal issue because Romania maintains strict anti-drug laws, including criminal penalties tied to cannabis possession and consumption. While smoking weed onstage may barely register as controversy in parts of the United States, Romanian authorities reportedly treated the situation as a straightforward criminal matter.

Videos from the performance spread online almost instantly, pushing the incident far beyond a regular concert headline.

Shortly after the show, Romanian anti-organized crime prosecutors reportedly launched an investigation into the incident, accusing Wiz of possessing what officials classified as a “risk drug.”

Wiz later addressed the situation publicly on social media, saying he “didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage.” He also thanked authorities for being respectful during the situation and joked that he would return “without a big ass joint next time.”

At the time, many fans assumed the situation would quietly disappear after a fine or warning. That did not happen.

Late 2025: Romanian Courts Reportedly Convict Wiz Khalifa

Months after the festival incident, the case reportedly escalated inside the Romanian legal system.

According to reports referenced in the latest coverage, the Constanta Court of Appeal later “ordered the conviction” of Wiz Khalifa in connection to illegal possession of dangerous drugs for personal consumption.

The reported sentencing dramatically shifted public attention around the case because Wiz was said to be facing up to nine months in prison.

That development surprised many fans who initially viewed the situation as celebrity controversy instead of an active criminal prosecution. But Romanian law treats drug possession differently than many American jurisdictions, especially in public settings involving performances and festivals.

Reports also claimed Wiz was attempting to appeal the sentence, though public details surrounding the legal strategy remained limited.

Meanwhile, the story continued floating online in waves anytime international travel, touring, or court updates resurfaced.

May 2026: Wiz Briefly Appears on Romania’s Wanted Persons Database

The latest twist arrived this week after Mediafax reported that Wiz Khalifa had allegedly been added to Romania’s wanted persons list because of “an enforcement warrant for a prison sentence related to drug offenses.”

That headline exploded across social media almost immediately.

However, confusion quickly followed because searches using Wiz’s legal name reportedly still produced a listing and photograph, but clicking deeper into the database allegedly triggered a notice saying the alert was no longer active.

That left people questioning whether the warrant had been removed, challenged, corrected, or simply updated internally after the reports circulated publicly.

As of now, Wiz has not publicly commented on the wanted list reports.

The timing also adds another layer to the story because the legal update arrived just days before the release of Blog Era Boyz, Wiz’s upcoming collaboration project with mgk. So while fans were gearing up for music rollout headlines, the internet instead ended up debating Romanian criminal law.

Why The Case Keeps Going Viral

Part of what keeps pushing the story back into headlines is the cultural disconnect surrounding it.

In hip-hop culture, cannabis use by artists is often treated casually and publicly. But outside the United States, many countries still enforce strict penalties tied to marijuana possession and public consumption.

That contrast is exactly why the Wiz Romania case continues grabbing attention online. To some fans, the situation feels surreal. To Romanian authorities, it appears the case has been treated like any other criminal drug investigation from the beginning.

Now the biggest unanswered question is whether Romanian officials still intend to actively pursue enforcement tied to the reported sentence or whether the legal status behind the scenes has changed following the now-inactive wanted listing.

Either way, what started as a festival moment has turned into one of the strangest ongoing international legal situations involving a major American rapper in recent years.
