Prosecutors Claim Yella Beezy and Kewon White’s Phones Pinged Same Houston Towers Before Mo3 Killing

The Yella Beezy trial heard testimony Tuesday, November 3, about cellphone records linking the rapper and convicted gunman Kewon White to the same areas of Houston less than two weeks before Mo3 was killed. Jurors also heard from a Dallas police officer who previously provided security for Beezy and described delayed payments, tensions involving other rappers, and why he contacted Beezy immediately after learning about the deadly shooting.

According to courtroom reporting by journalist La’Janeé Alford, widely known online as The Docket Diva, cellphone data showed devices associated with Beezy and White connecting to the same cell towers in Houston on October 31 and November 1, 2020. FBI Special Agent Taylor Page presented the location evidence as prosecutors continued building their capital murder case against Beezy, whose legal name is Markies Conway.

The records placed both devices in overlapping geographic areas during the same period, including portions of their travel between Dallas and Houston. However, Page acknowledged that the technology could not establish whether Beezy and White were physically together, traveling in the same vehicle, or communicating in person.

Cell towers can serve broad geographic areas, meaning two phones connecting to the same tower do not necessarily belong to people standing near each other. The records also cannot establish who was holding either device.

Defense questioning further established that investigators identified no direct phone communications between Conway and White or fellow defendant Devin Brown in the records discussed.

For prosecutors in the Yella Beezy trial, the Houston evidence is one piece of their effort to establish possible connections between people they allege were involved in Mo3’s killing. The location records alone do not establish a personal relationship, an agreement, or participation in a murder plot.

The testimony then turned to Beezy’s financial arrangements with people who worked for him.

Dallas Police Officer Nicholas Brooks, who previously provided private security for the rapper while off duty, described occasions when he did not receive payment immediately after completing assignments.

Alford reported that Brooks testified he sometimes waited “a day or so” to be compensated. During one incident, Brooks said he paid other security workers using his own money because Beezy had not yet paid him.

Brooks also acknowledged that Beezy eventually settled the outstanding payments.

Prosecutors appear to be examining those delays while developing their allegation that Beezy arranged payments connected to Mo3’s killing. They have accused him of hiring White to carry out the shooting, and the testimony about his payment practices could be used to explore whether a similar arrangement existed with White.

However, Brooks did not establish that Beezy withheld money from White or that any delayed security payment was connected to the homicide. His account concerned compensation for legitimate security work.

The Yella Beezy trial also brought renewed attention to the reported tensions between Beezy, Mo3, and fellow Dallas rapper Trapboy Freddy.

Brooks testified that Beezy had instructed him to provide security specifically for Beezy rather than Trapboy Freddy or other artists. According to the officer, situations involving Trapboy Freddy frequently created problems, prompting him to restrict the rapper’s presence during security assignments.

Brooks also described his reaction when news broke that a rapper had been shot on a Dallas freeway on November 11, 2020.

Because he was familiar with reports of tensions involving Beezy and Mo3, Brooks contacted Beezy to determine whether he had been the person shot or was involved in the shooting.

His decision to reach out reflected his awareness of the reported dispute. It was not testimony that Brooks witnessed Beezy participate in the attack or possessed firsthand knowledge connecting him to the gunman.

Defense attorneys also questioned Brooks about his relationship with the rapper, establishing that the officer originally approached Beezy about providing security. Brooks had even helped Beezy learn to use Zelle for electronic payments, and their relationship became friendly enough that Brooks invited him to his wedding.

The alleged feud itself has faced conflicting testimony. On Monday, November 2, another witness, Theodore Thomas, also known as rapper Jose Bodega, testified that he had fabricated previous grand jury statements about tensions between Beezy and Mo3. Prosecutors challenged his reversal.

As testimony continues, prosecutors are attempting to establish a connection between Conway, White, and the money they believe financed the fatal shooting.

Mo3, whose real name was Melvin Noble, was chased and fatally shot on Interstate 35E in Dallas on November 11, 2020. White was convicted of capital murder in September 2026 and sentenced to life in prison.

Conway faces a separate capital murder prosecution over allegations that he arranged the killing. Another defendant, Devin Brown, also faces charges connected to the case.

Conway has pleaded not guilty and denied involvement. His defense maintains that prosecutors have not established the necessary connection between him and the killing.
