Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, is facing a civil lawsuit over an alleged physical altercation that reportedly took place at Chateau Marmont in April 2024, according to documents first reported by TMZ.

The complaint, filed by an unidentified plaintiff listed as John Doe, accuses Ye of battery and infliction of emotional distress. The lawsuit claims the artist approached the man at his table and, “without warning, punched him in the face.”

According to the filing, the alleged impact “knocked him to the ground,” where he “hit his head and lost consciousness.” The plaintiff further alleges that Ye “repeatedly punched him as he lay unconscious on the ground,” escalating what is described as an unprovoked incident inside the well-known Los Angeles venue.

The complaint also introduces a motive behind the alleged confrontation. The plaintiff claims Ye accused him of engaging in “offensive and inappropriate conduct” toward a woman who was part of his group. The lawsuit asserts that these accusations were unfounded and that Ye later “repeated and embellished these lies during a widely viewed podcast appearance, exposing plaintiff to public scorn, suspicion and ridicule.”

The filing seeks unspecified damages related to physical injuries, reputational harm, and emotional distress.

As of now, Ye has not publicly responded to the allegations. Representatives for the artist have not issued a statement addressing the claims.

The case adds to a growing list of legal challenges surrounding the artist in recent years, though the outcome of this particular lawsuit will depend on further proceedings and any evidence presented in court.
