NBA Ben10 Denied Bond After Lawyer Claims Jail Is Failing To Provide Critical Medical Care

NBA Ben10 will remain behind bars after a federal judge denied his latest attempt to secure release, despite his attorney arguing that the paralyzed rapper is not receiving adequate medical care while awaiting trial.

U.S. District Judge Drew B. Tipton rejected the rapper’s motion to revoke his detention order on Tuesday, October 6. The ruling followed an emergency request from attorney Dustan Neyland, who argued that his client’s medical condition and treatment needs warranted release under strict court supervision.

The latest NBA Ben10 bond decision comes nearly six months after the Baton Rouge rapper was seriously injured during a shooting at a Houston restaurant. Now, the same incident that left him paralyzed has also placed him at the center of a federal robbery case.

Ben10, whose last name is Fields, is being held at the Joe Corley Detention Center in Conroe, Texas. His attorney has described conditions that he believes are dangerous for someone living with a spinal cord injury.

Neyland stated that his client is paralyzed from the chest down and cannot independently handle several basic activities, including bathing, changing his clothes, and transferring from his wheelchair to a bed.

The attorney further alleged that Fields has been unable to participate in prescribed physical therapy while incarcerated, raising concerns about his recovery and overall health.

Those concerns go beyond missed treatment sessions.

According to Neyland’s filing, NBA Ben10 has allegedly experienced inadequate hygiene assistance, insufficient food, and delays in receiving essential personal care. His attorney described an incident in which Fields reportedly remained in soiled protective undergarments without appropriate assistance from detention center staff.

“The nursing staff at Joe Corley will not assist in changing and have informed him they do not have wipes to clean,” Neyland alleged in the motion.

The filing also alleged that Fields faced restrictions involving telephone access, family visits and physical restraints. These allegations have not been independently established, and the available reporting does not include a detailed response from detention center officials addressing each complaint.

Neyland has maintained that his client’s physical limitations require consistent medical attention that cannot safely be interrupted.

As detailed in court documents, the attorney wrote that Fields “is confined to a wheelchair and requires care to assist in his basic needs of hygiene, physical therapy, and wound prevention.”

The defense also disclosed that Fields had begun stem cell therapy in connection with his paralysis and had a medical procedure planned for later this year. Neyland described his client’s prospects for recovery as limited but hopeful, making access to treatment a central part of his request.

However, the federal court ultimately declined to reverse the detention decision. That ruling keeps NBA Ben10 in custody, although it does not independently establish whether the medical treatment and accommodations available to him are adequate.

The rapper’s legal troubles stem from an April 8, 2026, confrontation at Confessions restaurant in Houston’s Upper Kirby neighborhood.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas, Detroit rapper AllStar JR, whose legal name is Jeremy Christopher Ford, was involved in an altercation with several individuals inside the restaurant.

Federal investigators alleged that a handgun fell to the floor during the confrontation. Ford reportedly retrieved the weapon and began shooting as people attempted to escape.

Authorities said three people were struck by gunfire. Investigators further alleged that Ford returned to one injured individual lying on the ground and fired additional shots.

NBA Ben10 was among those injured.

The severity of his injuries became clearer in May, when KPRC 2 Houston reported that Harris County court records described a devastating spinal injury.

According to those records, investigators said Fields had lost sensation in his lower body. Medical information referenced in the case described his prognosis as irreversible paralysis of his lower extremities.

Ford subsequently faced a Texas aggravated assault charge involving a traumatic brain or spinal injury, in addition to a separate federal charge accusing him of unlawfully possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

The April shooting was not the only violent incident involving Fields during his recovery.

On May 14, Baton Rouge television station WBRZ reported that Ben10 had been identified as one of three people injured in another shooting near Wells Street in Louisiana on May 12. All three were reportedly transported to a hospital in a private vehicle.

The second shooting added another troubling chapter to the rapper’s recovery, although the full extent of any additional injuries was not publicly established in that report.

Months later, the federal investigation into the Houston restaurant incident expanded beyond Ford.

NBA Ben10 and fellow Never Broke Again affiliate OG 3Three were among six individuals arrested in connection with the alleged robbery involving AllStar JR.

Federal prosecutors accused the defendants of aiding and abetting interference with commerce by robbery and aiding and abetting the brandishing of a firearm during a violent crime.

The charges marked a significant development because Fields, previously known publicly as one of the shooting victims, was now also being prosecuted over the confrontation that preceded his injuries.

Fields pleaded not guilty during a September 24 arraignment before Magistrate Judge Christina A. Bryan. His trial was scheduled to begin November 9.

Prosecutors argued that Fields should remain detained because they considered him a danger to the community. His defense challenged that position, emphasizing his serious injuries and disputing the suggestion that he personally possessed or knew about a firearm during the alleged robbery.

Another unusual aspect of the case is that Fields previously spoke publicly in defense of AllStar JR, the man accused of shooting him.

Ben10 suggested that the situation had gone wrong but said Ford “he ain’t do [expletive] wrong but take care of business.”

Those remarks became part of the broader conversation surrounding the shooting, particularly as investigators pursued separate criminal cases against people on both sides of the confrontation.

The defendants are also facing different circumstances while preparing for trial. Complex reported on October 9 that OG 3Three remains out of custody pending trial, while Fields continues to be detained despite his documented mobility limitations and his attorney’s concerns.

That distinction makes the medical care dispute especially significant. Fields is presumed innocent of the federal charges, but he must continue navigating his injuries while in government custody.

For now, the October 6 ruling means NBA Ben10 will not receive the emergency release his attorney requested. His criminal case remains unresolved, and so do the questions raised by his defense about whether the detention facility is providing the medical treatment, physical assistance, and rehabilitation support his condition requires.
