Young Jeezy was arrested again on Tuesday, this time charged with obstruction after Alpharetta police say he cursed at officers and refused to give them his name. It is the rapper’s second arrest in less than three weeks.
Alpharetta police spokesman George Gordon told Channel 2 Action News that officers were called to a townhouse in the Atlanta suburb after a security alarm went off. When no one answered the front door, officers went around back and saw Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, walking out of the townhouse. He told them it was his girlfriend’s home.
According to Gordon, Jeezy refused to show identification or give his name and cursed at the officers, who then arrested him. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that when an officer asked for his name and ID, Jeezy said, “[Expletive] you, I ain’t telling you,” and tried to pull away as he was being handcuffed. TMZ also obtained the police report, which said officers responding to the panic alarm did not know whether someone inside was hurt or whether there was an intruder, so they treated the man they found leaving the home as an unknown threat.
The 36 year old rapper was booked into the North Fulton Alpharetta Annex Jail and released late Tuesday on $1,000 bond, according to booking records reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The arrest comes less than three weeks after Jeezy surrendered to Fulton County authorities on January 3 on battery, false imprisonment and terroristic threats charges. Those charges stem from an alleged 2012 fight with his son, and he was released the same day on $45,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on January 29 for a plea and arraignment hearing in that case. No court date has been set for the obstruction charge.
