Young M.A had Shannon Sharpe doing mental gymnastics after a dating conversation on Club Shay Shay took a turn into labels, attraction, and what she actually looks for in women.
The Brooklyn rapper, who is gearing up to release her new album “KWEEN” on May 29, told Sharpe that her first point of attraction is a woman’s eyes.
“[Their] eyes because you see they soul. Of course, you got to still be a beautiful woman that got yourself together—but the eyes is what what pulls me in first.”
Then came the line that had Shannon stuck. “You know why I say it’s the eyes? Cuz that’s how I would know if a girl is attracted to me, because most women l’ve dated was straight.”

“You Flipped Them?” Shannon Asked What Everybody Was Thinking
Sharpe immediately asked, “You flipped them?”
M.A shut that down fast. “I wouldn’t say flip. See, a lot of people get that misconstrued. Women that I end up dating don’t mean they [are] just gay—no. They still like men, they just attracted to me and that’s it. After me they move back on to men, that’s it.”
When Sharpe tried to make sense of it, he asked, “So it’s not a situation they need to be gay or they need to be straight, or X Y, and Z?”
“Nah. I prefer straight,” M.A answered.
That’s when Shannon hit another wall, saying, “Hold on, if they straight—they’ve never been with a woman.”
M.A explained, “I’m a different type of person though,” adding, “I’m not like [the] ‘gay rapper-ish’ type, you know? I’m just me that loves women.”
Who Has Young M.A Been Linked To Romantically?
Young M.A has kept much of her dating life private, but she has been publicly linked to a few women over the years. In 2016, XXL reported that M.A and model Tori Brixx sparked dating rumors after appearing cozy on Snapchat. Days later, Wendy Williams asked M.A about Tori, and the rapper replied, “Shout out to Tori Brixx,” calling her a “beautiful girl” and saying they were “definitely getting to know each other.”

She was also linked to model Mya Yafai after fans spotted the two close on Instagram Live in 2019. HotNewHipHop later described Yafai as M.A’s model girlfriend while reporting on their Dubai trip in 2022.
Still, “flipping” is where the conversation gets messy. Planned Parenthood states that people do not choose who they are attracted to and that a person cannot “turn” someone gay.
So, M.A’s point seems clear: she is not claiming to change anyone. She is saying the connection finds her first.
