Sexyy Red Posts Photos With Drake at the World Cup Final and Thanks Him for “Da Shabirkin”

The St. Louis rapper turned up at MetLife in Argentina colors, posted a carousel with Drake, and coined a new word in the caption

Sexyy Red & Drake

Sexyy Red and Drake spent Sunday together at the World Cup final, and the photos she posted afterward have already done more numbers than most of the game coverage. In the carousel, the two stand backstage at MetLife Stadium, Drake in a black polo and black leather pants with his hand on her shoulder, Sexyy in a white and light blue bodysuit that matched Argentina’s kit, orange hair down past her waist, black sunglasses, studded white Louboutins and a cream Chanel bag hanging off one shoulder. The caption did the rest.

“First date kinda nervous,” she wrote, with a soccer ball. “THANKS FOR DA SHABIRKIN BABY DADDYYY BAE I LOVE YOUUUUU U MY EVERYTHING.” She closed it with #WorldCupSexx.

A couple posing closely indoors: a man in black holding a woman with orange hair and sunglasses, both facing the camera against a plain wall.

The other images in the post are the gift itself. A red exotic skin Hermès Birkin with toile canvas paneling and diamond set hardware, the pavé clasp catching light in the back of a car. In one frame her hand rests on the handle beside a rose gold diamond watch. In another, Drake holds the bag up toward the camera with a grin so wide his eyes disappear, clearly enjoying the reaction he knew was coming.

The word she invented is the reason this post is moving. “Shabirkin” is a mash of Birkin and “Shabang,” the breakout record off Drake’s ICEMAN that climbed to No. 4 on the Hot 100 and turned into a TikTok challenge big enough that Drake filmed himself doing it on vacation in Turks and Caicos. Taking the biggest song of his comeback run and welding it onto a six figure handbag is the kind of thing that would take a marketing team a week to workshop. She did it in an Instagram caption in the parking lot.

And it was not the only reference stacked in there. “U my everything” is the title of the song they made together in 2024, the one where Drake rapped over Metro Boomin’s “BBL Drizzy” beat on her In Sexyy We Trust mixtape. “Baby daddy” goes back to “Rich Baby Daddy,” the 2023 record with SZA where the two of them play parents in the video, which she shot days after actually giving birth. Three years of running bits, folded into one caption, with a brand new word on top.

Anyone who has been following this relationship knows the shape of it by now. They met in the summer of 2023, when Drake posted her to his Story and called her his “rightful wife.” She joined the It’s All A Blur tour weeks later. She has spent the years since calling him her man, her BD, her rich friend, mostly as a joke and always in public, and he has consistently played along without either of them ever claiming anything. So the “first date kinda nervous” line is a punchline, not a soft launch, and anybody writing it up as a relationship reveal is missing the entire bit.

What it is instead is one of the most durable friendships in the genre, and one that has never stopped being funny. In March 2024 she posted a video holding a stack of money in front of four Chanel shopping bags, saying she was glad she had rich friends who thought about her. “What a Northside b***h doing with four new Chanels?” she asked the camera. The Chanel bag on her shoulder in Sunday’s photos is a quiet callback whether she intended it or not.

The Birkin part also has history. Drake told The Hollywood Reporter back in 2017 that he had been collecting Birkins for years, buying them for “the woman I end up with,” and that collection eventually showed up in his Architectural Digest tour of the Toronto house, lined up in a two story closet. Whether Sunday’s bag came out of that stockpile or was bought fresh, the gesture lands differently coming from a man who has been publicly hoarding these things for the better part of a decade.

Then there is the actual soccer, which makes the whole thing funnier. Argentina lost. Spain won the 2026 World Cup 1-0 at MetLife on a Ferran Torres goal in the 106th minute, in the second period of extra time, after Enzo Fernández was sent off in stoppage time at the end of regulation and left Argentina to play the extra thirty minutes a man down. Emiliano Martínez put up the most saves ever recorded in a men’s World Cup final. Argentina managed two shots, neither on target. It was, by all accounts, the end of Lionel Messi’s World Cup career, and the trophy ceremony turned into a Messi chant.

So Sexyy Red showed up in Argentina’s colors to watch Argentina lose, then posted a carousel about being handed a diamond Birkin. She was the only person in white and light blue leaving that stadium happy.
