Los Angeles Clippers rookie Branden Dawson was arrested Sunday morning for felony spousal abuse. Dawson was taken into custody around 8:30 a.m. PT.
The alleged incident involved Dawson’s live-in girlfriend. Details surrounding the incident have not been released yet, but Dawson remained in custody for about six hours before being released on $50,000 bond.
“It’s an awful situation,” Clippers coach Doc Rivers said. “I have a daughter. So, it’s a terrible situation, but we’ll figure out what we want to do and how we want to handle it.”
If convicted, Branden Dawson could possibly face a 10-game suspension and could be ordered to undergo counseling under the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement.
