Benzino is facing more legal trouble after a Georgia traffic stop reportedly turned into an arrest involving speeding, a suspended license and suspected marijuana.
According to WALB, the “Love & Hip Hop” alum, whose legal name is Raymond Scott, was arrested in Crisp County after being stopped on Interstate 75 on June 9. An Arabi Police Department incident report states that an officer using a laser speed detection device clocked a silver SUV traveling 91 miles per hour in a 70-mph zone near the 92-mile marker on Georgia 401.
During the stop, Scott reportedly told the officer he did not have a valid driver’s license because of issues connected to child support. The officer then reported smelling marijuana coming from inside the SUV.
Police said Scott admitted there was marijuana in the vehicle and directed officers to its location. A search allegedly uncovered a bag of suspected marijuana in the driver’s side door. Officers also reported finding another bag of suspected marijuana under a blanket in the back seat near a passenger, identified as Ruth Lewis. Lewis reportedly told police the marijuana belonged to her and was also arrested.
Authorities said a records check showed Scott’s license was suspended for multiple offenses. He was taken to the Crisp County Jail. The vehicle’s owner, identified as Ashley Bell, reportedly told officers Scott had been driving because she had taken medication and needed to sleep. Bell was cited for allowing an unlicensed driver to operate her vehicle. WALB reported that additional court records were not immediately available.
The arrest adds to a list of legal issues Benzino has faced over the years. In 2019, TMZ reported that he pleaded guilty in a Georgia drug case after previously being charged with felony possession of THC oil gummies, felony possession of MDMA pills and misdemeanor possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. He avoided jail time and was sentenced to two years of probation, along with a $500 fine plus surcharges.
That same year, TMZ reported that Benzino was arrested on a failure-to-appear warrant tied to a no-insurance ticket.
In 2020, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Scott was arrested again in Georgia after police said he hit and dented a man’s truck during an incident involving his former girlfriend.
Benzino has not publicly addressed the latest arrest.
