Ari Fletcher is no stranger to public scrutiny, but these days, she’s taking online criticism with a lot more perspective. During a conversation with The Baller Alert Show, the entrepreneur and influencer opened up about how her relationship with social media has evolved over the years, admitting that while negative comments once affected her deeply, she’s learned not to let them dictate her peace.
“Not now,” Ari said when asked if comments on the internet still bother her. “Now it’s a little comical. It just be like, ‘Here they go.'”
She acknowledged that wasn’t always the case.
“It don’t bother me now, but it used to. Y’all know it used to bother me. I used to be going crazy.”
According to Ari, growth, and accepting the reality of social media, has been the biggest difference.
“It’s growth… and just like, it’s not gonna change.”
She explained that trying to defend yourself online is a losing battle because people will always find something to criticize, whether it’s true or not.
“You could beat them down online… but you’re not gonna win with the internet. They’re always gonna have something to say. And if they don’t have a story, they’re gonna make one.”
One thing Ari says she’s noticed is the disconnect between social media and real life.
While people may feel bold behind a keyboard, she says those same critics rarely bring that same energy face-to-face.
“You can say whatever you want to say online, but when I see you in person, I’ve never had an issue. Ain’t nobody ever came up to me and was like, ‘Yeah, on the internet I said…'”
She also pointed to the constant rumors celebrities face, saying even being in the same venue as another famous person can spark false narratives.
“You can’t even be in a club with other celebrities without people making something up. They said I was in Turks with Drake. I was not. You’re on a whole other side of the club, but people always want to make a story.”
For Ari, it’s all part of understanding how the internet works. Rather than trying to correct every rumor or respond to every comment, she’s choosing to focus on what actually matters.
