DoorDash Customer Drives To Crash Scene To Pick Up His Food After Driver Gets In Accident

A DoorDash customer drove to the scene of a car crash to pick up his own order after his delivery driver got into an accident just minutes from his house, and the video has the internet split.

 

The TikTok creator, who goes by TheGarageGrind, said his order was running late when the driver called to explain. He had been in a wreck about five minutes away and asked whether the customer could come meet him and grab the food instead of waiting for the order to be reassigned.

 

So he got in the car. He filmed the drive, narrating what he expected to find, and his tone changed once the scene came into view.

 

“I didn’t know my man got in a real [expletive] car accident cause that [expletive] look [expletive] up,” he said.

 

Then he spotted something near the wrecked vehicle. “But I think that’s my food right there,” he said, before asking the camera, “Is it [expletive] up for me to walk across and pick it up?”

 

He did walk over, but he checked on the driver first. “You alright?” he asked. The driver, who appeared responsive, answered, “Yeah, thank you, man.” The customer told him, “I’m so sorry, bro. You got an accident bringing me my food,” then took the order and left.

 

That was enough for plenty of viewers to come after him. Some said he should have picked up the food himself in the first place. Others said he should have canceled and let DoorDash send a new driver. The DoorDash customer answered both camps in his caption.

 

The restaurant, he explained, was 40 minutes from his house. The crash happened five minutes away. Canceling would have meant a new dasher driving 40 minutes to the restaurant, picking up the same food, and driving 40 minutes back. Meeting the driver meant a five minute trip.

 

As for doing the pickup himself from the start, he said his schedule doesn’t leave room for it. “I drive for a living, work long hours, have a family, and still gotta work out when i come home,” he wrote.
“So if i’d rather pay for the convenience than spend another hour in the car going to pick up some food, i don’t see how that’s an issue,” he added.

 

The numbers are on his side, and it was the driver who asked him to come.

 

The DoorDash customer’s video does not show how the crash happened or where it took place, and it is not clear whether the driver was hurt beyond what appeared on camera. The driver has not been publicly identified.
