Sakiyna Thompson is serving life in prison without the possibility of parole for first degree murder, and her TikTok account is quietly racking up view counts most creators never touch. The videos are filmed behind a glass wall. In them she reviews books, makes nachos out of Flamin’ Hot Doritos, spoons banana pudding, decorates cups with Louis Vuitton print, and shows off her braids.

The videos are raking up millions of views. All of this is happening on an account with fewer than 7,700 followers, which means the algorithm is doing the work, not an audience. A new pinned Q&A video carries a note explaining that a best friend monitors the account.
The reason Sakiyna Thompson is in a position to film any of this is a killing in Tamarac, Florida on July 13, 2022. Prosecutors said the 31 year old flew from New York to South Florida days beforehand, angry that her ex boyfriend was dating 23 year old Kayla Hodgson and that Hodgson had blocked her on social media. She arrived at Hodgson’s apartment at 5 in the morning wearing a hat and a COVID mask, and she got there and back to her hotel using an Uber account registered under a fake name. Inside the apartment she stabbed Hodgson dozens of times.
According to her own testimony and prosecutors, she then changed into Hodgson’s clothes, tried to clean up the scene, and left without calling 911 before flying back to New York. Deputies with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office found Hodgson dead in her home after a call reporting an unresponsive woman. A warrant was issued on July 25 and Thompson was arrested in New York on Aug. 3, 2022, then extradited to Florida.
At trial she took the stand and told jurors she went to the apartment to talk woman to woman, that Hodgson cut her stomach with a piece of glass, and that she acted to save her own life and the life of her unborn child. She also claimed she blacked out and did not remember the killing. Her attorneys argued there was no evidence she brought a weapon with her. The state pointed to the disguise, the fake Uber account, and the trip itself as proof she planned it. The Broward County jury took about an hour. They found her guilty of first degree murder on Oct. 15, 2025, and on Dec. 1 a judge sentenced Sakiyna Thompson to life without parole. She gave birth while she was locked up.
Ten of Kayla Hodgson’s family members and friends addressed the court before sentencing. They wore shirts reading “Justice For Kayla” with her photograph on the back. They described a young woman who loved fashion and would help anybody who needed it. Her cousin asked directly what gave Thompson the right to come to her home and do that to her. Her mother, Diana Hodgson, thanked prosecutors and law enforcement and said the work restored her belief in the justice system.
The Florida Department of Corrections bars incarcerated people from maintaining social media accounts, including accounts run on their behalf by someone on the outside.
None of the videos mention Kayla Hodgson. Thousands of people are watching a woman film cooking content in a state prison, many of them with no idea why she is there, while a family in South Florida spent more than three years waiting for a verdict and is now looking at her face on their For You page.
