Angela Yee spent years keeping one part of her life firmly outside the microphone, but her relationship is private no more. The veteran radio personality is engaged to entrepreneur Tameek “Meek” Floyd, turning an Angela Yee engagement into a full-circle moment after she once said fans would know when she reached this exact milestone.

Floyd revealed the engagement on Instagram following the seventh annual Angela Yee Day celebration in Brooklyn. Photos shared from a tropical trip showed Yee, Floyd and friends enjoying the getaway before the relationship took a major turn with a proposal. The Shade Room reported that Floyd posted the images on Sunday, August 30, with the proposal appearing to take place during a trip to Saint Maarten.“Locked it in with my best friend @angelayee,” Floyd wrote. “As individuals we’re great, together we’re unstoppable… Love You!!”
For Yee, the announcement stands out because privacy has never been an accidental part of her dating life. She built a career discussing relationships, celebrity business, and some very personal conversations on air, yet she has consistently drawn a much tighter boundary around her own romance.
Back in 2019, Yee confirmed to Essence that she was dating someone but declined to identify him. More importantly, she made it clear that keeping their relationship low-key worked for both of them.
“What’s great about my boyfriend is that he’s really supportive of everything that I do and he’s so low-key,” Yee said at the time, adding that she liked keeping her personal life out of the blogs.
That same Essence interview makes the engagement announcement even more interesting seven years later. Yee told the publication that her boyfriend did not want people involved in their relationship and joked that the public would hear about it once an engagement happened.
“Yes, I have a boyfriend. He doesn’t want people to be all in the mix [knowing who he is], but as soon as we get engaged or something, you guys will be the first to know!” she said.
Apparently, she meant it.
Yee has also addressed one of the more public names attached to her dating history, Harlem rapper Vado. When he appeared on “Lip Service,” Yee pushed back on the idea that their past was some major former relationship.
“I don’t even look at it like that’s my ex-boyfriend,” she said.
In the fuller Essence conversation, Yee explained that they had gone out several times years earlier but that the relationship “never materialized into anything.” She said the two remained cool afterward.
While her romantic life stayed mostly off-camera, Yee’s professional profile only got bigger. She became nationally known as one-third of “The Breakfast Club” alongside DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God. The trio’s impact on radio eventually earned “The Breakfast Club” induction into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2020.
Yee later announced her departure from the morning show in 2022 as she prepared to build her own nationally syndicated program. “Way Up With Angela Yee” officially launched in February 2023 from New York’s Power 105.1, initially rolling out across more than 30 iHeartMedia stations. The program combines celebrity interviews, music, relationships, news, and culture, giving Yee a platform centered completely around her own voice.
She has continued “Angela Yee’s Lip Service” as well, the relationship-focused podcast that has long put celebrity guests in conversations far more revealing than the standard promotional interview.
That contrast makes this engagement hit differently. Yee has spent years professionally getting people to open up while carefully deciding how much of herself the public gets in return.
Now Floyd has officially pulled back the curtain on one detail.
There is no publicly confirmed wedding date yet, and Yee has not turned the engagement into a running public relationship diary. That would probably be the least surprising part of the story. After years of keeping her romance quiet, she managed to announce the biggest update without suddenly abandoning the privacy that defined the relationship in the first place.
The woman who once promised people they would hear about an engagement when it happened just made good on that promise.
