Diddy’s release date has moved up again. Federal Bureau of Prisons records now show Sean “Diddy” Combs leaving FCI Fort Dix on January 21, 2028. That cuts about two weeks off the February 5 date he had at the start of this month and would put him home three weeks into the new year.
No reason was given for the latest change. Federal release dates move with good behavior credits, program participation and discipline, and all three have come into play for Combs since he was sentenced.
Combs was sentenced on October 3, 2025, to 50 months in federal prison after a jury convicted him on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. The same jury acquitted him of the more serious racketeering and sex trafficking charges. Prosecutors had asked Judge Arun Subramanian for 135 months, and the defense asked for 14. The judge also ordered five years of supervised release and a $500,000 fine. Combs had been in custody since his arrest at a Manhattan hotel in September 2024, and that time counted toward his sentence.
The first move went against him. In November 2025, Diddy’s release date was pushed back to June 4, 2028. That followed allegations that he drank homemade alcohol behind bars and made a phone call with a third party patched in, which federal prisons do not allow.
That same month, he was accepted into a drug abuse rehabilitation program, which can take up to a year off a federal sentence for inmates who qualify. He also took a job working in the prison chapel library.
The changes in his favor started in March. Page Six reported on March 2 that his date had moved up to April 25, 2028, and later that month the records showed April 15. By June, Diddy’s release date was February 23, 2028.
In July, Combs got into a fight with another inmate at Fort Dix. A source told ABC News the other man made a remark that started it, and Combs was sent to solitary confinement. Fort Dix is a minimum security prison with about 3,000 inmates, and Combs is not housed in the general population. Less than a week after the fight, his records showed a new release date of January 24, 2028.
That date did not hold. TMZ reported in August that his release had been reset to February 20, 2028. On September 3, it moved up to February 5. Less than a month later, it is January 21.
Diddy’s release date has now changed eight times in under a year. He is more than four months ahead of the June 2028 date he had last November.
Combs is also still appealing the conviction. His lawyers filed the appeal in December 2025, asking for his immediate release and either a reversal of the conviction or a reduced sentence. A win there could get him out before any date on the Bureau of Prisons calendar. Until then, January 21, 2028, is the date on record, and his five years of supervised release begin whenever he walks out.
