Federal authorities have arrested a 23 year old man from the Bahamas accused of hacking into celebrities’ accounts and trying to sell what he found. According to the NY Daily News, Power actress Naturi Naughton was one of the people targeted.
Alonzo Knowles was arrested after allegedly trying to sell confidential information he had taken from celebrities’ computers, including scripts. NBC News reports he faces charges of criminal copyright infringement and identity theft and was held without bail after appearing in Manhattan federal court. He has not been convicted, and the charges are allegations.
The Daily News reports that Knowles allegedly emailed a radio host earlier this month saying he had full scripts for episodes 1 through 6 of an upcoming season of a popular drama, and that he wanted to make some money from them. It also reports he showed a script during a FaceTime chat with Naturi’s name watermarked on it.
Naturi reportedly told investigators back in September that she had been hacked and that she did not give her scripts to anyone. The Daily News says she was not the only Power cast member whose contact information Knowles had.
Starz was notified after the radio host told an executive producer of the show about the situation.
