King's Hawaiian And The Minions Just Dropped The Banana Snack We Didn't Know We Needed

King’s Hawaiian is shaking up snack time with a brand-new limited-edition product: “Shake ‘Em” Banana Bites, launching nationwide on May 20, 2026. The playful collaboration with Illumination taps into one of animation’s most beloved running jokes — the Minions’ obsession with bananas — to deliver a bite-sized treat ahead of one of the summer’s most anticipated family films.

The new product features King’s Hawaiian’s signature soft, pillowy bread bites topped with banana-flavored sugar. The experience is designed to be interactive: sprinkle on the banana-flavored sugar, shake to evenly coat, and enjoy. It’s a three-step snack ritual that leans into the Minions’ spirit of mischief and fun.

The timing is no coincidence. “Minions & Monsters” is the seventh film overall in the “Despicable Me” franchise from Illumination Entertainment, directed by series veteran Pierre Coffin, who also co-writes with Brian Lynch and reprises his role as the voice of the Minions. The film hits theaters on July 1, 2026 — about four years after “Minions: The Rise of Gru” was released in 2022. Set in Hollywood, the story follows the Minions as they attempt to make a monster movie, only to accidentally unleash real monsters onto the entertainment capital of the world.

This isn’t King’s Hawaiian’s first Minions rodeo. The brand previously partnered with Illumination on “Despicable Me 4” in 2024, rolling out Minions-themed signage and limited-edition packaging in grocery stores across the country.

“Shake ‘Em” Banana Bites will be available for a limited time at retailers nationwide.
