Kirk Franklin is encouraging people to pray for those they disagree with, even when frustration makes that difficult. During an appearance on The Baller Alert Show, the gospel legend shared a powerful message about faith, compassion, and what it means to practice the teachings of Jesus Christ in everyday life.

Rather than focusing on people who are easy to love, Franklin challenged listeners to consider praying for the individuals who frustrate them the most.“Imagine if every person on this planet, if you saw somebody that irked you or somebody you disagree with, every day for just 5 minutes, you just took a moment just to pray for them.”
His message was simple, but the challenge goes beyond the usual conversations about forgiveness. Franklin encouraged people to reconsider how they respond to disagreements, especially when their first instinct might be anger, criticism, or resentment.
Franklin reinforced his message with another direct challenge.
“You want to be like Christ? Pray for somebody.”
For the gospel artist, following Christ involves more than attending church, knowing scripture, or expressing religious beliefs publicly. His remarks focused on putting those beliefs into action, particularly when doing so requires patience and humility.
The conversation also addressed an experience nearly everyone can relate to: dealing with someone who gets on their nerves.
That approach does not mean ignoring harmful behavior, abandoning personal boundaries, or pretending that every disagreement can be resolved. Franklin’s challenge focuses on how individuals choose to respond internally before deciding what to do next. This approach has surely helped him in his lengthy career.
The gospel star has earned 20 Grammy Awards. His influence in gospel music began reaching wider audiences with the 1993 release of “Kirk Franklin & The Family,” an album that topped Billboard’s gospel albums chart.
Throughout his career, Franklin has consistently brought conversations about Christianity into spaces beyond traditional church settings.
In an October 2026 interview with Audacy, Franklin discussed the criticism he has faced from members of the religious community over his musical creativity and public expression of faith.
His comments also arrive as he prepares for another major musical chapter. Franklin’s upcoming album, “I Am What I Am,” is scheduled for release on October 30, 2026.
Through his latest conversation on The Baller Alert Show, Franklin brought that emphasis on faith and personal accountability into a situation anyone can recognize.
