Power 106’s “LA Leakers” got the scoop from 2 Chainz, himself, on why he left a possible basketball career in the dust.

The rapper’s latest album “Rap or Go to the League” shows the self-explanatory options Chainz had to prosper in life. What’s even more obvious is the choice he actually made. But, something that boggles minds is why he never stuck to his college basketball career. Well, the honest answer is that he simply fell out of love with the game.

It all started when he got in trouble for selling weed as a senior in high school. Even though it could’ve severely damaged all windows to play ball in college, Alabama State University gave soon-to-be ”Tity Boi” a call.

“…So these coaches called me like, ‘We heard what happened, man. You know we not far from you. We’re a black school. We got other guys from your high school…We have a position for you,” he said.

Though things seemed optimistic, the coaches who gave young 2 Chainz the offer ended up getting fired before the season even started. They were eventually replaced with a new coach, and he just couldn’t get with it. That’s when the love started to spiral.

“It made me not even like basketball anymore. I remember when I stopped liking it I took a Pell Grant and I bought a pound, and I ain’t look back no more.”

Although the basketball path didn’t work for 2 Chainz, he definitely has plans for his son, Halo, to go from high school straight to the league.
