State officials confirmed Monday that Jackson’s company has finalized an agreement committing $124 million to a multi-part redevelopment effort downtown. The project centers on revamping the Stageworks venue, overhauling a former Millennium Studios production campus, and constructing what planners describe as a “dome-style immersive venue and green space park.” Louisiana Economic Development said the state will back the effort with up to $50 million in performance-based infrastructure funding tied to project benchmarks.
Jackson positioned the initiative as more than a studio expansion, emphasizing its potential impact on the local economy and workforce. “By reinvesting in downtown Shreveport and upgrading existing assets to create state-of-the-art entertainment and production facilities, we are creating jobs, inspiring hope, attracting new productions, and giving the entire entertainment industry a reason to build their futures right here,” he said.
Governor Jeff Landry welcomed the deal, calling it a reflection of the region’s growing appeal. “We’re thrilled to welcome yet another project that sees the strength, talent and potential of this region,” Landry stated.
The finalized agreement follows years of groundwork. In spring 2024, Jackson first revealed plans for G-Unit Studios, comparing the vision to the large-scale production campuses that have transformed cities like Atlanta into entertainment hubs. A long-term lease with the city for the Stageworks property was announced last year, paving the way for redevelopment.
While pushing ahead in Louisiana, Jackson continues to operate a broad production slate across television, film, nonfiction, and audio. G-Unit has active and upcoming projects with Starz, BET+, Hulu, Fox Entertainment, and Fox Nation, underscoring the company’s reach across platforms.
If construction moves forward as outlined, the Shreveport campus could become one of the most significant production investments in the region, positioning the city to compete for projects increasingly looking beyond traditional filming centers.
