Trump floated the idea of so called tariff dividend checks late last year, suggesting revenue from broad import tariffs could be returned directly to taxpayers, especially middle and lower income Americans. After his initial reaction in the interview, Trump clarified that the idea was still under consideration. He suggested that if such payments were to happen, they would likely come “toward the end of the year,” without offering a firm timeline or details on eligibility.
