The nation’s largest bookseller may be looking to make their stores more lucrative by adding booze to the bookstore.
A Barnes & Noble store in New Hartford, NY is reportedly looking into selling wine and craft beers. They recently applied for a liquor license from the New York State Liquor Authority.According to reports, Barnes & Noble will try out alcohol sales from the store’s cafes in select locations to see how customers respond to it. They will use the response from the community to determine whether they should sell alcohol in other stores. Earlier this month, the popular bookstore chain sought a liquor license from the Town Board Council for their New Hartford, CT store.
Barnes & Noble wouldn’t be the first bookstore to mix booze and books, however. There’s Bookbar in Denver, which sells a wide selection of Colorado beers and wines, as well as Books & Brews in Indianapolis.
No more Happy Hour at the bar or favorite restaurants. It looks like book worms will start enjoying fine wine and a good read at Barnes and Noble on a Friday night.
Do you think this will be a hit or miss?
