What would TikTok and popular culture be without Black creators? It’s cringe-worthy for one thing. Especially now that Black Tiktok creators went on strike for the past few days and made their absence felt, leaving non-black TikTok creators lost in the struggle to create trendsetting magic that resonates with popular culture.
Black creators are taking a stand over the lack of credit many of them receive for making viral dance trends on the popular social media app Tik Tok. The #BlackTikTokStrike movement was started to prove a point. Black creators are tired of seeing their content whitewashed, appropriated, and copied by everyone else while receiving little to no credit or attention for their original content.
And if you think they don’t have a point, check out some hilarious tweets and examples from Twitter users after seeing what Tik Tok has become.

A funny thing about the thot shit dance strike on tiktok is that there’s no strike. Plenty of Black creators are making dances they’re just doing it under their own sound. So white creators can’t find the dance because they don’t really support the Black people on that app.
