Boosie will not be going to prison following his federal gun case, officially closing a legal chapter that had put the rapper at risk of serious time behind bars.
At sentencing, the judge ruled in favor of an alternative punishment, sparing Boosie incarceration altogether. Instead, he was sentenced to probation, 300 hours of community service, a $50,000 fine, and a $100 assessment fee, along with three years of supervised release. As part of the conditions, Boosie is also barred from possessing weapons during the supervision period.
The decision comes after Boosie’s legal team argued that prison would amount to “unnecessary incarceration” for what they described as a nonviolent offense. The case stemmed from a 2023 traffic stop in San Diego, where a firearm was found in a vehicle Boosie was riding in. No injuries were reported, and the incident was not tied to any violent crime.
Federal prosecutors had pushed for a two-year prison sentence, citing the seriousness of gun possession by a convicted felon. The court ultimately landed on a sentence focused on supervision, accountability, and financial penalties rather than incarceration.
Boosie, whose real name is Torence Ivy Hatch Jr., previously accepted a federal plea deal after the case was moved from state to federal court. With sentencing now complete, he avoids prison time while remaining under strict court oversight.
The outcome marks a major legal win for the Baton Rouge rapper and shifts attention back to how he moves during the next three years under supervised release.

Leave him alone.
