Ford is expanding its digital reach by bringing certified pre-owned vehicles to Amazon, giving customers a simple way to shop for a car and arrange financing through the popular e-commerce platform.
The company announced that shoppers will be able to explore selections from participating local dealerships through Amazon Autos and complete most of the required paperwork without needing to visit a showroom.
The program will begin in Los Angeles, Seattle, and Dallas, with additional cities expected to join as the rollout continues. Ford shared that close to 180 dealerships have already shown interest in taking part, and 20 stores have officially signed up. Every vehicle offered through the program includes a manufacturer-backed warranty and the same benefits buyers receive when purchasing directly from a dealership.
Although the partnership makes much of the experience digital, Ford emphasized that only one step requires an in-person visit. As the company explained, “No Amazon Prime delivery for cars!” which means customers will still pick up their vehicles from the dealer after completing the online process.
Amazon Autos added used vehicles to its platform earlier this year after recognizing growing demand from dealer partners. All cars listed on the site are sold by the dealerships themselves, while Amazon functions solely as a facilitator for the transaction. Hyundai Motor Co. has also joined the e-commerce marketplace with its own partnership, signaling a wider shift in how automakers approach online sales.
By teaming up with Amazon, Ford aims to give buyers a more seamless path from browsing to financing while allowing dealerships to reach customers where they already shop.
