It was first reported on November 22nd that award-winning actress Gabrielle Union would not be returning to America’s Got Talent next season. At first, it appeared to be a neutral departure, as there is usually a change of judges every so often amongst talent competition shows today.
However, according to sources close to the show, it has now been revealed that Union has allegedly been fired after she spoke out regarding the hostile work environment. The NBC insider went on to reveal, “She wouldn’t walk away from $12 million because she’s ‘busy.’ Based on weekly interactions on social media, by the time AGT finale aired, Gabrielle was the #1 talent on network TV for 2019.” To make matters worse, according to Love B Scott, it was Simon Cowell who made the ultimate decision to get rid of Union.
While the details of Union’s experience have yet to be revealed, sources claim the incidents include situations involving racism and sexism. However, this is not the first time that claims of misconduct have surfaced around ”America’s Got Talent.” According to reports, Former host Nick Cannon quit the show in 2017 after hosting for eight seasons. In a lengthy statement, Cannon accused executives of threatening him following a joke that he performed during a comedy special that aired on Showtime. The comedian felt that he began to be targeted on multiple occasions, in an attempt to censor him.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In this case, the 47-year-old actress has yet to release a statement regarding the claims.
