Grubhub has officially proven that they are worthy of a cookout invitation.
Following Donald Trump’s election win, GrubHub co-founder, Matt Maloney, sent a stern message to his employees. The subject line for the company wide email sent Wednesday, read, “So…that happened…what’s next?”
In the email Maloney, a Clinton supporter, writes, “While demeaning, insulting, and ridiculing minorities, immigrants, and the physically/mentally disabled worked for Mr. Trump, I want to be clear that this behavior — and these views — have no place at Grubhub.”
Maloney continued, “I want to reaffirm to anyone on our team that is scared or feels personally exposed, that I and everyone else here at Grubhub will fight for your dignity and your right to make a better life for yourself and your family here in the United States.”
The best part of the email is when Maloney told employees that if they have a problem being decent human beings in the workplace, they’re welcome to quit. “If you do not agree with this statement then please reply to this email with your resignation because you have no place here,” wrote Matt Maloney. “We do not tolerate hateful attitudes on our team.”
Fox News took this letter as Maloney telling employees to resign if they voted for Trump, which it isn’t. According to Maloney, this is a reminder that there is no tolerance for hate and discrimination at GrubHub.
“I did not ask anyone to resign if they voted for Trump,” he said in a blog post late Thursday. “To the contrary, the message of the email is that we do not tolerate discriminatory activity or hateful commentary in the workplace, and that we will stand up for our employees.”
Grubhub deserves a seat at the table, right next to Ben & Jerry’s.
