If you don’t feel old yet, today is the day. iPhone officially turns 15 years old day. Apple released its first-ever iPhone in June 2007.
Steve Jobs introduced the phone bringing much anticipation, as when the phones hit tech stores, so did the lines.
The OG iPhone was only 4GB or 8BG. Though it did offer wifi, supported 2G EDGE connectivity, and had internet download speeds below 500Kbps, it definitely has revolutionized the way people communicate.
iPhone 3G first hit the scene globally in July 2008, with significantly improved data speeds plus the addition of the Apple App Store which at the time offered a mere 500 apps at launch.
As soon as users got used to the phones, Apple launched a new one that fall season, making the tradition of introducing new Apple products every fall season.
Though some argue that Apple’s products have caused many problems, there’s no denying that the phone’s structure is the blueprint for other succeeding mobile devices.
In 2015, Apple introduced Touch ID to iPhone 5S, and in 2017, they totally got rid of the home button replacing it with Face Recognition. Now you’re able to FaceTime multiple people at once, soon people will be able to unsend and edit iMessages, and Apple CarPlay will be more interactive than ever.
Apple continues improving the iPhone and making it as simple as possible with aging times. Let’s see what in Apple’s future in the next 15 years.
