Lois Frankel Wins South Florida House Re-Election Against Far-Right Laura Loomer

Representative Lois Frankel (D-Fla.) won her campaign (easily) against Laura Loomer, described as a far-right provocateur and activist.

The win comes from the Palm Beach-area surrounding Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, which is majority Democrats, The Hill reports.

Loomer is known for her incendiary comments about Muslims, which has gotten her banned on social media like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other technology platforms like Uber and Lyft and had recently won the GOP primary after being bolstered by Donald Trump this past summer.

But Frankel, who has served in the House since 2013 and remains as co-chair of the Democratic Women’s Caucus, reigns once again. Frankel was also the former mayor of West Palm Beach.

Luckily, Frankel defeated Loomer, who has labeled herself a “proud Islamophobe” who has offended many with her hateful speech—but apparently, Loomer feels she was banned from sites “because of her effectiveness,” which she made sure to add on her campaign website.

“Someone needs to create a non-Islamic form of @uber or @lyft because I never want to support another Islamic immigrant driver,” Loomer tweeted in 2017. She added injury to insult when she retweeted an article from The Nation that discussed the 2,000 migrants that died after attempting to cross over the Mediterranean Sea. “Good. Here’s to 2,000 more.”

But unsurprisingly, Trump was there to show his support for Loomer during her primary win. “Great going Laura. You have a great chance against a Pelosi puppet!” Trump tweeted in August while referencing Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

This much hate in your heart is a really different kind of sadness.
