Nicki Minaj stepped into a completely different arena this week as she took center stage at the United Nations to address the reported rising violence allegedly targeting Christians in Nigeria.

Minaj opened by thanking Donald Trump for “prioritizing” the crisis and supporting efforts to defend Christians facing deadly attacks. She made it clear that her appearance had nothing to do with political sides, stressing that the issue is about humanity and the right of every person to worship without fear.

She spoke about her own gratitude for living in a country where faith can be practiced freely. From there, Minaj shifted to the harsh reality facing communities in Nigeria: destroyed churches, families torn apart, and people forced to flee their homes simply because of how they pray.
