The result of Tuesday night’s election was shocking to say the least.
Celebrities shared their thoughts on the election and expressed their frustration with America’s decision. Even Oprah Winfrey weighed in on the unexpected outcome.
According to reports, the legendary talk show host revealed her initial thoughts on a Donald Trump Presidency. At first, she said she was in disbelief. However, the interaction between Trump and President Barack Obama made the media mogul optimistic about the future of our country.
In an interview with the Associated Press on Thursday, Winfrey said “hope is still alive” after President Obama’s 90 minute meeting with the President-elect went well. Apparently, Obama said he felt encouraged by Trump’s willingness to work with his team during the transition of power, reports state. Unlike several anti-Trump protestors, Winfrey rejected the idea that Trump was elected in an effort to retaliate against the Obama presidency. But, she did say, the election was a result of millions of people feeling like their voice had not been heard.
“I could sense, maybe I’m wrong, but I could sense from Donald Trump’s body language even when he came out for the acceptance speech, that brotha has been humbled by this whole thing. I think it’s a humbling process that now you literally have the weight of the world on your shoulders,” she said.
