Tory Lanez has decided to get a new attorney.
After he was convicted of all charges related to the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion and being placed behind bars for the assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a concealed, unregistered firearm, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence, the rapper is not giving up his fight to freedom.
Lanez has now tapped famed criminal defense attorney David Kenner to represent him during his appeal.
The new lawyer doesn’t come as a shocker, as he’s represented Suge Knight and many other notable rappers like Snoop Dogg. David Kenner confirmed last week that he was hired by Tory Lanez and will represent the 30-year-old rapper.
George Mgdesyan previously represented Lanez, and his court appearance on Jan. 10 will be a “substitution of attorney.” Nancy Dillion with Rolling Stone reported on the substitution.

George Mgdesyan says he’s leaving on good terms, making way for David Kenner (Suge Knight’s longtime lawyer):
"I don’t do appeals, so we had to get somebody on board to handle the appeal"

Mgdesyan did explain why there was a change in attorneys, “I don’t do appeals, so we had to get somebody on board to handle the appeal.”
Everyone is on good terms as Mgdesyan will attend the sentencing hearing, which is supposed to happen on Jan. 27. He faces a maximum of 22 years and eight months in prison.
