Well, well… look who needs help now. Tory Lanez, the Canadian rapper, is publicly defending himself again on his felony assault charge from allegedly shooting Megan Thee Stallion.
According to TMZ, Lanez wants his day in court. On Friday, he broke his silence after news broke that the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office charged Thursday. He faces one count of assault with a firearm and one count of carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a car.
He’s pleading with his fans to support him, telling them the “charge is not a conviction.” Alongside emojis, Lanez said, “time will tell,” and the “truth will come to the light.”
Tory thanked his fans for supporting both him and the “WAP” female lyricist through this difficult time. “I genuinely appreciate you,” he added.
The D.A. accuses Lanez of causing great bodily injury. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 22 years and eight months behind prison bars.
Shortly before the charges hit, Tory released an album that has multiple songs proclaiming his innocence. Initially, Lanez was only arrested on the charge of possessing a firearm after police found the gun in the SUV the night Meg was shot.
Now that there are new charges, it’s safe to say prosecutors are letting it be known that they have sufficient reason to believe Tory was behind the trigger.
Many were confused about what happened that night, especially since Meg herself remained quiet. But, somewhere lines got crossed, and the Houston native eventually dropped Tory’s name as her shooter. “Yes, this n***a Tory shot me. You shot me, and you got your publicist and your people to these blogs lying and s**t, stop lying!”
Whew, this is just too much. But as Tory said, time will tell.
⏰ will 🗣 … and the truth will come to the light … I have all faith in God to show that … love to all my fans and people that have stayed true to me & know my heart … a charge is not a conviction . If you have supported me or meg thru this , I genuinely appreciate u .
