NeNe Leakes is dealing with a tax bill. The state of California has filed a $25,212 tax lien against the Real Housewives of Atlanta star and her pizza franchise, Famous Famiglia, according to lien records first reported by Hip Hop Daily Press.
The lien was filed back in July. A tax lien is the government’s legal claim on a person’s property when taxes go unpaid, and it stays on record until the debt is paid off. The records show the lien was filed against both Leakes and the Famous Famiglia business.
She is not the only one in the household with a tax issue. The same report said her husband, Gregg Leakes, also has state tax liens on record in Georgia.
The news comes during a big year for the couple. NeNe and Gregg, who divorced in 2011, reconciled and remarried in Atlanta in June, and their wedding was the focus of her Bravo spinoff, I Dream of NeNe: The Wedding, which premiered in September. Leakes is also back for the new season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, which premiered this week.
