The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office released Sidney Starr’s mugshot on Monday, one day after the reality TV personality was arrested at a metro Atlanta hotel and charged with three felonies involving a child. The booking photo shows her facing the camera with her hair pulled back, wearing a dark jumpsuit.
Starr, whose legal name is Sidney Favors, was taken into custody Sunday at the Embassy Suites off International Boulevard in Hapeville, near the airport. The Hapeville Police Department charged her with aggravated child molestation, sexual battery against a child under 16, and sodomy. According to arrest warrants, Favors told investigators she performed oral sex on a boy at the hotel Sunday morning and said the encounter was consensual. Georgia law does not recognize consent from a child under 16, so that account is not a defense to the charges.
Police have released almost nothing else about what happened inside the hotel. In a statement, the department said no additional information would come from the agency because the case involves a juvenile. The investigation has been referred to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
Court documents obtained by Baller Alert show what happened at her first appearance on Monday. Favors waived her appearance and did not go before the judge in person. Judge John Defoor II did not set a dollar amount for bond and instead deferred the decision to Superior Court, which is why jail records still list her as held without bond. An attorney was appointed to represent her, meaning she is being defended by court appointed counsel rather than a private attorney.
Her case has been placed on the pre indictment status calendar for August 25 at courtroom 1B. That is the hearing where the court can take up bond again or hold a preliminary hearing for defendants still sitting in the Fulton County Jail. Until then, she stays in custody.
Favors, 37, built her following through reality television and social media. She appeared on “Love & Hip Hop: New York,” “Wild ‘N Out,” “Atlanta Plastic,” and Zeus Network’s “Baddies” franchise, and had roles on “Empire” and “Star.” She first drew wide attention in 2012 when she claimed she was dating rapper Chingy after the two posed for a fan photo, a claim she later admitted was untrue and apologized for. She has not entered a plea and has not commented publicly since her arrest. All charges are allegations.
