Selena’s Sister Files Lawsuit Against SHEIN Over Alleged Unauthorized Use of Singer’s Image

The sister of late singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez has filed a lawsuit against fast-fashion retailer SHEIN, accusing the company of selling clothing that featured the singer’s image without authorization.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Suzette Quintanilla alleges that several apparel items listed on the retailer’s website displayed Selena’s likeness. The lawsuit claims the company never secured permission from Selena’s family or their business entity before offering the products for sale.

Suzette Quintanilla and the family’s company, Q-Productions, state in the complaint that they control the exclusive rights to Selena’s likeness, trademarks, and related intellectual property. The filing argues that the use of the singer’s image on merchandise without approval violates those rights.

The complaint also says representatives for Selena’s estate sent the retailer a cease-and-desist notice around August 1, 2025. The notice requested that the allegedly unauthorized items be removed from sale. However, according to the filing, the merchandise remained available after the request was issued, prompting the family to pursue legal action.

The lawsuit asks the court to stop further sales of the items and award damages, including profits allegedly generated from the merchandise. The filing also reportedly includes examples of clothing listings that show garments printed with Selena’s face.

The case is part of the family’s ongoing effort to protect Selena’s brand through Q-Productions. In recent years, the estate has taken legal action in several disputes involving unauthorized commercial uses of the singer’s name or likeness.

Selena remains one of the most influential Latin music artists of the 1990s and is widely credited with helping bring Tejano music to mainstream audiences in the United States. Her life was cut short in 1995 when she was fatally shot by former boutique manager Yolanda Saldívar following a financial dispute. She was 23 years old.
