Ray J and his high-end lifestyle have led him back to the courtroom. American Express is officially taking legal action against the singer, claiming he hasn’t settled a massive credit card bill.
In the newly filed suit, the financial company is seeking a judgment of $78,704.56, alleging that the entrepreneur is in breach of contract for failing to pay back the outstanding balance.
The litigation doesn’t just target the singer personally. American Express has also named Rajun Cajun Inc. in the filing, a company associated with Ray J’s business ventures. While the exact details of the connection remain under wraps, the pressure to pay is mounting. Despite the legal drama, those within the artist’s circle say he isn’t looking for a long fight. Sources close to Ray J tell TMZ that “he plans to pay off the debt” and clear the matter quickly.
This legal headache follows a familiar pattern for the reality star. Just a few months ago, in December, AmEx filed a separate claim against him and his streaming platform, Tronix Network, for a delinquent balance totaling over $139,000.
The debt collection comes at an incredibly busy time for Ray J’s legal team. He is currently locked in a legal battle with Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner. Just this week, the singer accused the mother-daughter duo of perjury, claiming they lied in sworn declarations regarding the release of their 2007 sex tape.
With multiple lawsuits involving both his personal finances and his public reputation now active, the reality star is set for a lengthy stay in the legal system throughout 2026.
