North West is quickly moving out of the shadow of her parents, Kim Kardashian and Ye to become a star in her own right.
Between her “N0rth4evr” EP and her signature goth fashion, she’s giving fans plenty to talk about. While many are feeling her new creative era, some critics are labeling her style, “too dark.”
The assumptions got so loud that North actually addressed it head on. In a video recently shared by LiveBitez on social media, she responded to a fan who questioned her faith by asking if she loved Jesus. North made it clear that people are reaching when they try to link her outfits to her beliefs.
“‘Do you love Jesus?’ Of course I love Jesus,” she explained. “That’s my lord and savior. People be thinking I’m dark and stuff, but… I’m really not.”
It’s a straightforward answer that shouldn’t come as a shock, especially since Kanye has spent years making his walk with God a central part of his music. It’s a common cycle in the industry, as soon as an artist starts wearing black and leaning into a gothic look, people start throwing around “devil worship” accusations.
North is just the latest to point out that her fashion and her soul are two different things, and it’s really not that deep.
